Due to the volume of calls received the last few days it appears necessary to us that we give you some updates regarding our Showdown series divisions. Showdown series divisions consist of the following:
Ladies, Jack & Jill, Masters, 8 & 9 Ball Doubles.
The rest of this newsletter concerns ONLY the showdown series divisions!
As mentioned in one of our very first newsletter and current bylaws point payback is not allowed anymore by the national office.
Point payback meaning we are not allowed to give a certain amount of money according to the division standings. This is a national rule from the APA and as new League Operators who thrive to run the league according to national standards, we have to abide by it.
However, no point payback does not mean there is no payout!! It simply means money will be distributed in a different structure.
While most of it has already been posted it appears our bylaws were not clear enough for this and as a result, we have updated them.
Below is a summary of the structure for Showdown series divisions.
· Playoffs for this session for SHOWDOWN SERIES will be determined just like our standard format divisions:
In 4-5 team divisions:
- Division winner qualifies to Cash Cup. The division winner is the team that comes in first place in points for the session.
- 2nd place VS Wild Card
- The winner of the match advances to Cash Cup.
In 6 to 8 team divisions:
- Division winner qualifies to Cash Cup.
- 3rd place VS 4th place
- The winner from each match to advance to Cash Cup.
In 8+ team divisions:
- 2nd VS Wild Card
- 3rd VS 6th
- 4th VS 5th
In order to be eligible for the Cash Cup, a team MUST REMAIN ACTIVE in the spring session.
· Team finishing in 1st place will get a first-round BYE at the cash cup if any. The first-place team will also get plaques! Those will be distributed during the first week of the spring session.
· All playoffs winners will get plaques.
· The Cash Cup will be composed of the monies from BOTH the current Fall session and Spring session.
· Because of the limited number of teams in the Masters & Ladies division, Spring playoffs will consist of only the NON-qualified team.
· For Jack & Jill, eligibility will be passed down. If a team should be in the Spring playoffs but is already qualified from the Fall session then eligibility will simply move down.
· Cash Cups are scheduled for June 13, 2020, @Good Timez for Jack & Jill and June 27 @Mickeys for both Ladies & Masters.
· The winner of each Cash Cup will also get the spot for the 2020 World Pool Championships (Nationals) in August. Please note that in order to stay qualified such a team will need to play the Summer session (our future yearly one). This is once again done, just like our standard divisions, in order to ensure proper handicapping.
· New teams coming in this Spring session for Ladies, Jack & Jill or Masters will not be eligible for the 2020 Cash Cup unless they replace an already existing team in the division. If such an event were to happen that means the team playing in the Cash Cup (if qualified) would be the new team, not the one from the Fall session!
We still do not have all the scoresheet for some teams in Jack & Jill as well as Ladies.
Please remember that in order to be eligible for playoffs and the wild card draw you need to be up to date with your payments, forfeits included!
Because it is the holiday season and we know everyone is busy we have been waiting as long as possible to give an opportunity for those scoresheets to come in. However, every team that is not up to date on the paperwork by 2 pm today (Friday 13th of December) will not be eligible for playoffs and the wild card draw.
Please call Iana at 702 684 7665 if you have any issues.
Draw and playoffs schedule will be done immediately after this deadline. All draws will be done live on Facebook for full disclosure!
We hope this clarifies most of the questions you had the previous days and once again we want to thank you all for being part of our APA family!!!
Happy holidays and good luck in the playoffs,
Iana & Florian Kohler
